Daily Photos 2013
Read MoreShifting gears a little today. Finally had a day off and what a wonderful day it is. We are having a million dollar day weather here in the MIdwest with low temps and humiditiy, so what did we do? Went to the zoo as did half a million other people (and their screaming kids).
I added an old paper texture to this and that's about it. 8.14.13At last I have a photo that I am proud to submit for peer review in SmugMug. Taken in East St. Louis, Illinois on a partly cloudy day. Please view in larger size to see the detail in this building.
It is a magnificent building but is starting to show signs of disrepair. From where I was standing to take this picture you could see at least a half dozen buildings that were rotting and falling to the ground. scribbled with graffiti. I hope this does not happen to this building. 8.11.13I was a little heavy handed on the extreme processing with this photo, but I like the aged 60's feel to it. Please don't look at the skin tones. They are awful, but I otherwise liked the look. Have a great weekend all.
I took a tumble on some rocks trying to sneak up on a little blue heron. My back and Sigma 150-500 lens took the brunt of the fall and both are in need of repair. So I wont' be posting any new bird shots for awhile. Its been awhile since I have posted a bird for my daily and I just couldn't resist this shot. The nest is empty now but it was a hot spot of activity when this house wren had 5 little mouths to feed. This is the second brood of birds I have watched grow up in my backyard this year, and I am ecstatic about it.
In addition to growing corn and beans, this farm doubles as an old car graveyard. I bet there are a dozen "carcusses" of old cars scattered around this farm house. All different brands dating back to the 50s and maybe even longer. We got up early to go fishing and so I caught some good early morning light on this one. 7.18.13
My brother recently passed on and a few days later I ran across this doe. Funny thing was, she was not afraid of me. I was in the Jeep and saw her, backed up and fiddled with my photo equipment for a minute all the while she was just staring at me. Then, she started grazing again. Anyway, I put this together with my brother, Gene, in mind. He was a great hunter and fisherman and a great man. Rest in peace beloved brother. 7.2.13
