Daily Photos 2012
Read MoreGeez where have I been? Off the grid totally for about 3 weeks. I have devoted all of my time to capturing the best nature/bird photos I can which has meant that I have had internet service very little of the time since I have been in the back woods chasing that elusive bird... I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter and I look forward to posting some really fantastic shots in the days to come. 4.7.12
It's a long lonely road between St. Louis and Dallas. For much of the drive, this is my view of the road. It's gets really boring and tedious driving this distance by myself, but it's worth it most of the time. Friday I'm hitting the road again and hope to photograph birds from one end of Texas to the other. Can't wait to get going. Hope to have some really cool shots to post soon.
Taken in Dallas, Texas. If you look closely right above the right round light there are 2 window washers hanging by a thread from the building. It takes a lot of guts to do that. No amount of money would be enough for me to try something like that. I'm so afraid of heights. Anyway, what a pretty day. 2.21.12
Another shot from my trip to Chicago last spring. This lovely lady had just participated in some sort of cancer awareness walk/run event. My friend and I caught a bus because my legs were wearing out on me, and we had the pleasure of sharing it with this lady. Being a photographer, I love color; the more the better and as they say "if you've got it, flaunt it." 2.20.12
I am maxing out my 1 TB hard drive, so guess what I'm doing? Yep, deleting crummy photos. As I was doing this, I ran across this photo of Max when he was a puppy. He hasn't quite grown into his ears yet here, but he still is the cutest little guy. He is truly Randy's best friend, so loyal and loving, always wanting to please. We should all have a friend like that. 2.15.12
I seem to have a nack for finding birds with some sort of deformity/injury, albeit old. Look carefully at this mockingbird's claws and you will see a stump where its foot/claw should be. It is a tough world out there. I experimented with a different effect to liven this up. Unfortunately, I got a lot of noise as a result. 1.20.12
I absolutely love this cute little birds. They make a funny little noise which seems to me to fit their personalities. I have a couple that come for the suet, and it finally occurred to me to start hiding it and watch them zip around eating it up. They puff out their feathers and zip around lightning fast, and it is hard to keep up with them. I'm pretty satisfied with this shot from this morning which was quite cold and biting here in the MIdwest. I'm sure they can use the energy.1.19.12
Baby it's cold outside. You can say that again. The first blast of really cold air hit St. Louis today along with an inch or 2 or snow. It was beautiful, but created quite a problem for drivers. The birds were frantically feeding out back including 3 starlings who were new guests for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I wouldn't want to be out there with nothing on but a bunch of feathers!!! 1.12.12

This little one has gotten quite fat eating the bird suet I lovingly make and put out for the peanut butter lovers in my backyard. He is not the least bit afraid of me despite my yelling at him to go away, so I figured I might as well make the most of it and take his picture instead of the birds. 1.11.12
Shot this yesterday along the Mississippi River in Modoc, Illinois. I believe it is a golden eagle, but suppose it could be a juvenile bald eagle, but don't thinks so. I'm certainly no expert on the subject. We saw a total of 10 eagles, all perched up high in the trees along the levee close to the ferry. I'm hoping to capture eagles fishing in the river later this winter when they are here in bigger numbers. Wish me luck! 1.9.12 Have a great week.
I set out looking for trumpet swans at Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Alton, Illinois. Only spotted 3 swans still on a pond, but as I turned to go back to the road, I saw this Canada goose taking its time crossing the road. It didn't seem a bit disturbed by the vehicle coming toward him. I guess that's why it's called a "bird sanctuary." 1.4.11
